Jobson reunion

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Legion Hall at Bucklin, MO

Descendants of John and Catherine Jobson will be gathering. Most in attendance descend from Robert and Judith Pigdon Jobson, but we also have representation from Robert's brother, William. We know that John and Catherine had several children and their descendants are encouraged to attend as well.

Contact Barbara French jdfrench@cmuonline.net for more information.

We have contacted a new Jobson descendant.

Jim Engle of Sierra Madre, CA.

He descends through Robert James Jobson and Sadie Henrod Jobson.

This is rather exciting for this oldster and I had about decided we had reached a dead end for the three we didn't know about. Now we have only two deadends left - 1) Thomas R.P. Jobson and 2) Emmeline Jobson - who married Oscar Boone.

Grace Ann and I will be getting together in the next few weeks to being planning for the 2010 Jobson reunion.

Eugene Jobson

If you go to a search engine such as Google or Yahoo - type in "Eugene Jobson" and you will get a listing from the University of PA.

When you scan the article, notice the short biography and you will note that Eugene Jobson had a mining past and at one time at lived in Danville, ILL.

I am thinking that this Eugene Jobson is the son of Robert James Jobson (1850-1908) and Sadie Henrod. The article lists wife and children and also the birth year as well as death year of Eugene - which would fall in line with his parents.

Maybe someone can figure out how to check this source as the descendants of Robert James and Sadie Henrod Jobson have a dead end for us.

For those of you at the 2006 Jobson reunion, you will quickly recognize this masterpiece by Ed and Sally Mills. I would not even want to wager a guess as to how many hours were involved.

We will see how this Jobson Genealogy blog goes. I will try to periodically add to it with web sites that I have utilized or those that you have enjoyed. Please pass the data on to me through my e-mail address which you have through our reunion mailings.

The Missouri Jobson family has been busy since the reunion with three of us (Aunt Maxine, Bobby, and yours truly) meeting a cousin on our Parker line (our grandmother Jobson's maiden name was Parker). She lives in St. Louis and none of us had ever met her face to face. She drove from St. Louis and met us in New Cambria. From there we checked out four cemeteries in the area around Ethel, returned to New Cambria to eat at the sale barn, and then checked out the New Cambria cemetery. She descends from a sister of my great grandfather Parker. We have been corresponding for maybe two years.

Grace Ann has recovered from the 2006 reunion and by the time you get this address - our first mailing for the next reunion will have been mailed.
